With a redesign on the space in the library, more charging ports or charging stations could be added. This could encourage more staff to visit the library, which will initiate more collaborative conversations.
Introduce flexible seating to allow for a variety of activities that promotes learning, collaboration, and creativity.
The school library should be considered the "Hub" of the school. It should be a place that students want to be. If there aren't comfortable seating option, then individuals may not want to spend a lot of time in the library.
With flexible seating, students will be able to focus (Bowie, 2018) and effectively learn in the library.
Teachers can provide better instruction when students are focused.
With flexible seating, students can work together or individually to suit their needs.
Recognize and identify how students like to learn.
Discuss or survey classes about preferred seating (floor, carpet, wiggle seats, beanbag, chair, etc.)
Discuss or survey classes about preferred learning activities (experiments, creating, worksheets, reading, listening, videos, research, etc.)
