I think that preparing for the COBE requires that they do the things they can't stand...SPEAK. They can't stand listening to their voices. I work with them in both receptive (vocabulary, reading comprehension question, how many questions etc) and tons of productive skills.

I have never prepared my students for BOOST. I imagine they would need practice in receptive activities. However, I believe that they need tons of productive activities. In addition, I invest in LOTS of confidence building skills. Rebecca

I'm afraid that after they remember their speech by heart for the COBE (project presentation), it will be a waste not to use it on the Boost (When they do a safety net).

It's the only part they can remember by heart before they take the exam.

On the Boost, I have started to go over the different sites and practices. I also use cards to encourage discussion. Some students are really really weak - so those find it hard as everything else, but most of them get along pretty well, especially in choosing a response.

The most difficult thing is to record yourself talking about a subject. Well, I let them write up their response first and then record it... until they get confident enough to skip the writing phase.

For the COBE I know I have to emphasize the time they need to talk for each question, especially regarding the project and I make them practice chunks of sentences so they gain confidence.

On the BOOST I am worries because many don't want to talk

most chalenging on the boost will be to describe the pictures fluently (very similar to responding to the video)

On the COBE we spend a lot of time preparing for the project qustion / recording, as well as practicing listening comprehension on the clip. On the BOOST I think my student will need to practice several times on the itest in advance in order to really make the students feel comfortable

The hardest thing - for students is to feel comfortable talking. To talk in front of a screen, and be able to give an extended answer.

On the boost, students will have difficulty producing language. We, as teachers will have to motivate students to deal with that issue.

I have never done the COBE

maybe, to understand the instructions on the BOOST.

The best they will make the first part with short responses, the hardest will be to describe the pictures. It is for the boost. in the cobe they are good to talk about the project and the clip can be hard.

I think that for 3 pointers it will be hard to come out with their own responses. That's why it is good that we have already written ones to practice and use.

The most difficult part of the COBE is encouraging my students to participate in class discussions with their friends since they are embarrassed to speak a word of English in class

On the COBE I work mostly on (vocabulary) situations, which I will try doing in the Boost on a simpler level

On the COBE I work a lot on meeting the minimum time limit, and using the phrasing of the question in your answer.

On the COBE preparing for the clips is the most difficult.

On the BOOST I think I will spend a lot of time teaching chunks.

I think it will be most difficult to make sure they know all of the vocabulary.

COBE- I know I have to spend time on clips. Students need the practice. They don't always understand the clips.

BOOST- I think they just need to get used to the actual exam and not be worried about talking and working with the computer. I'll have to teach them expressions and words they can use.

The most difficult part of the COBE is preparing the students to react to the video clip.

On the BOOST, I don't know.

BOOST I think the receptive part will be easier.

The part I invest the most on the COBE is part C, students don't really pay attention to instructions, and also are not used to different accents, so we must make them liste and get used to different accents. On the Boost I am not sure yet

COBE- Enabling them to practice various topics regularly.

Boost- teaching them enough vocabulary so they can share their thoughts.

Havent done the COBE with my students

BOOST - I think that the amount of time that they will have to speak might be challenging for them. Also to show up in order to practice might be a challenge (ביקור סדיר issues)

on the cobe I spent most of the time working on clips and presenting the project properly,

on the boost - I would spend most of the time on practice the answers correcltly

The easiest part of the cobe is the project section. They struggle with the clip, often finding the clip hard to understand.

Boost I'm not sure yet

On the COBE I have to spend most time with the clips.

On BOOST I will have to spend most time on vocabulary.

I think that in the cobe I will have to work on listening skills and speaking (reciptive and productive)

in the Boost I will mostly work on speaking ( productive)

to reach the greatest success in the cobe I think we should focus on the speech for the project (part b) because knowing that you are ready gives you confidence on the other parts as well.

On the BOOST I believe that is true as well.. not sure

The most challengeing part of the COBE was preparing my students for the video clips.

On the BOOST - I don't have the information about it.

It will be easiest to answer the receptive questions.

It will be challenging to speak for 20 seconds.

COBE - the clips (especially the new format of listening)

BOOST - i assume the pictures and talking about them

COBE- PROJECT + CLIP QUESTIONS

BOOST- PICTURES

I've never done either one before. I think speaking will be difficult for them, but I'm hoping with enough practice we will get there

On the COBE i know that i have to spend the most time working with clips

On the BOOST - i am not sure yet.

COBE-BOOST- success? Challenge?
