Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and remember the mivne with connectors.

For answering questions of a text:

Answer what you know, highlight what you don't and when you go back to it, take a few deep breaths to go over it in your head.

I also have them write down all of the rules they want to remember on the page as soon as they get it so they don't have to think as much during the test.
