Regardless of our experience and professionalism we can create a good first impression and come across as a person to deal with, or vice versa.

So what does it mean to create a good impression? It seems to me that the ability to listen, respond, friendliness, responsibility, punctuality are very important for a good impression. But often all these qualities are difficult to manifest or recognize at [the] first meeting.

Therefore, to have a good reputation there are some general tips: smile, listen to the person, do not be afraid to speak and make compliments, look for common topics, be open.

Of course, it is impossible to please everyone. But these simple things will help form [the] first good opinion.

To form a good opinion about you, you have to be friendly, kind and professional. Also from my experience, small talk and smiling are creating [A] positive impression. Don’t be harmful and rude - so you avoid taking a dislike to you. One more point, be attentive and polite, so you come across as a truthful. Moreover, if you're going to formal event or meeting with your potential employer, please use a business formal dress-code. The common rule: it's better to be more formal than not enough. If you plan to build an trustworthy relationship for a long period, you have to project the right kind of image.

Comments:

1) 'so you come across as a truthful' - it's better to add a noun here:

you come across as AN honest employee [the words 'honest/reliabe' are better here]

2) an trustworthy relationship - an article 'a' should be used here:

A trustworthy relationship

3)It should be ... avoid BEING takEN a dislike to.

To create a good impression and come across as a responsible person to the potential employer you need to follow these recommendations:

Firstly manage your online profile so that it reflects your CV. Your profile in social network should contain the essential information about your previous work and confirm that you have a good reputation.

Secondly pay attention to taking care about you appearance to project a neat image for the interlocutor.

Finally try to be calm and confident to form a positive opinion about your communicative skills.

Following this tips [THESE tipS] prevents you from being taken an instant dislike TO and highlight you within the other potential employees.

Better to use another word:

'highlight you within the other potential employees.'

For example: ... and make you attractive among the other prospective employees'.

As a rule, one forms an opinion about a person he meets for the first time very quickly. So your task is to project a good image and create an impression of a friendly & outgoing person. Try to listen attentively, ask questions to build a tight-knit relationship and be a respective participant of a conversation. If you are eager to come across as a reliable worker to your potential employer, you should also manage your profile. You can simply delete photos that may influence on your reputation. Another decision is to just close your profile in order only your subscribers can see what you post.

1) influence your reputation [influence SMTH - without the preposition 'ON']

2) Change the linking word:

Another decision is to just close your profile SO THAT only your subscribers can see what you post.

I would like to describe a situation, when you want to create a good first impression on the prospective employer before the first meeting.

You have to check and change your own online profile to match your CV.

If you want to come across as an interested person, you should investigate the main information about the company and its projects.

You can explore an online profile of your potential employer as well. If you find common interests or hobbies, it will allow you to build a much closer relationship.

And finally, don't hesitate to ask a lot of questions to the HR. It lets you form a good opinion about yourself even before the first meeting with your potential employer.

Word order: ... don't hesitate to ask the HR a lot of questions

[ask SMB some questions]

First of all, to come across as a punctual and a polite person. Be on time and do not forget to introduce yourself.

Actively listen and do not interrupt, it creates an impression of [a] polite and pleasant companion. It also can help to form an opinion of your companion!

Projecting a clean-and-tidy image also plays an important role.

If you plan to build a long term relationship, ask for a contact - surname, email or a telephone number.
