美国约翰.霍普金斯大学医学院的睡眠专家戴维纽堡医生说,每个人每天晚上都会做梦,但是只有大约一半的人会记得所做的梦。他说:“特别是那些情绪性和令人激动的梦更可能让人惊醒。但是,梦的内容并不反映任何心理上的问题。”

 

2堪萨斯城的一名男子问,如果他在晚上喝了酒,就会在清早三点半醒来,无法入睡。

 

戴维纽堡医生说,酒精最初有镇静的作用,但是过了几个小时酒精的作用消失以后,对人体反而会产生相反的作用。他说:“酒精力量的消退同样也会产生刺激,从而使人半夜提早醒来。”

 

3巴尔地摩的一位居民问,长期慢性失眠会不会加速一个人外表的老化。美国费城儿童医院的睡眠专家朱迪.明德尔医生表示,虽然没有肯定的证据来证明这种现象,

 

但是在动物身上实验的初步证据,的确显示睡眠不足会加速整体的老化过程。此外,她说:“正如我们大家都知道的,疲惫本身就会显露在脸上。”

 

4佛罗里达州的一名男士问,白天小睡片刻是否有益。美国西雅图的睡眠医生丹尼尔.洛德说,

 

对于罹患失眠症的人来说,白天小睡片刻并不是什么好主意,因为这样会造成晚上更不好入眠。

 

但是对那些偶而没睡好觉的人来说,白天小睡片刻倒是可以帮助他们得到一些休息。

所谓睡眠窒息症就是指睡觉的时候经常会短暂地停止呼吸,从而影响了睡眠的质量。芝加哥西北大学的睡眠专家菲利普济医生说,患有睡眠窒息的人应该立刻求医,因为这是一个比较棘手而且可能危及生命的睡眠紊乱问题。
