Role play can be used to learn empathy and how to deal with other's emotions and needs. In the medical field, learning how to communicate to patients is valuable.

Role play is important in learning how to listen and when to verbalize your thoughts.

Students find this to be a beneficial tool for learning. Most students prefer text only or text with a relevant picture on the slide to be conducive to retaining information.

http://mjota.org/images/Wired_11.09__PowerPoint_Is_...pdf

Power point slides contain lots of words with approximately 8 seconds of reading per slide. The relentless amount of information may become boring. The student may not retain the intended information.

The subject and audience require different types of slides. Some subjects may use bigger pictures and have less text. While others may have more text and much smaller pictures depending on the subject matter.
