The suspence between buck and will
He didn't want reveal to Buck that he had the gun.
The blank space means that it took Buck a long time to finish what he was telling him.
It is meant to show that Will is speechless, not realizing that the gun that he has is Buck’s.
The blank space is meant to show us that Will is scared.
Will’s silent shock and realization of what Buck just said that being that the gun Will thought was shawns, was actually Bucks before he died.
