Because she is dead and he liked her. She doesn’t want him to do it because she thinks that he would miss and would get shot.

It is sad that Dani is the one to ask Will this because they were friends since they were little. You would think that your childhood friend would support you, not doubt you.

There are two reasons why it is poignant for Dani to ask this question. One of them is because she wouldn’t have known better than to ask what would happen. The other is because she cares about him so she doesn't want anything bad to happen to him.

Dani was his childhood friend who was killed. Dani really cares about Will and doesn't want him to get hurt. But Will also cares about her so when he is getting his revenge it’s not just for Shawn but for Dani too if he misses it’d be like not getting that revenge for her.

It's not if Will will miss but if he wants to miss. Dani says this to find out from Will if he really feels he should kill Riggs.

because dani cares about him, and she is worried he might die in the process of avenging his brother

Dani was killed by a gunshot when she was eight years old. Will is visited by the ghost of Dani as he is going to kill Carlton Riggs. She asks Will what happens if he misses the shot, implying that is how she was killed, hit by a bullet that was meant for someone else.

One reason that it is poignant is due to Dani being perceived as caring about Will genuinely, so she is emotionally asking him “What if you miss?” because she does not want him to get hurt. Another reason that it is poignant is because Dani is shown as very innocent at a lot of points throughout the chapter.

Dani was the one to ask because they were really good friends when they were younger when they met on monkey bars. And she would ask if he would miss because she died and she was basically Will’s innocence when they were younger. And she died when they were 8 in a stray gunfire and she was asking him before he shoots and misses and does something wrong.

Because Dani doesn’t believe in will. She doesn’t think that Will can do it, which makes Will feel disappointed.

Why is it especially poignant (sad/moving/impactful) that Dani is the one to ask Will, “What / if / you / miss?” (142).
