RTA:/ They worked with vacuum tubes for circuits and magnetic drums for memory and took up four whole rooms. A magnetic drum is a metal cylinder coated with magnetic iron oxide material on which data and programs can be stored.
2. How do you imagine computers would work without operating systems?
RTA:/ Without an operating system the computer is useless. You would not have the platform that supports the programs that allow you to write letters, listen to music, surf the Internet or send an email.
