SHYAMALA
Activity 1 :
Question : “Why do you think your friend is upset with you?”
Activity 2:
Ethics will guide us to a life of truth and honesty.
Morals help us understand what is right and wrong.
Activity 3:
It is important for us to know where we stand in people’s lives. A marriage is between two people and from what I have seen/heard, it is not easy. Marriage is a commitment and a challenge. Therefore, what I would do is not to interfere but rather let the my friend’s spouse know that I am aware of it and would prefer for him/her to be honest about it.
Comment: What are the values in play if you approach your friend's spouse first?
Activity 4:
A student of mine saw her fellow classmate trying to take something that does not belong to them. My student was in a dilemma as it was her bestfriend that was trying to do the wrong thing. After much consideration, my student actually decided to speak to her friend to explain to her that it was wrong and that it will not be morally right for her to hide it from her teachers as well. How did my student come to this conclusion? I told my students that honesty is the best policy. I told my students to put themselves in a situation like this and imagine how they would feel if someone stole something valuable from them? And nobody is willing to help or speak up? This way, my students were able to come up with a conclusion/solution that is morally right.
Comment: Good strategy. By redefining the values, morals and ethics or even discuss real-life moral and ethical situations with your student is one way to guide them. Other means could be enforcing rules or shared norms to report of students taking others' things or not taking others' stuff.
