Almaty is one of my favorite places to visit. It’s a city that keeps a rich cultural heritage while blending with modern life, offering an unforgettable experience for any traveler. One of the things I enjoyed most about Almaty is the incredible natural scenery that surrounds it. The mountains nearby are usually covered in a sparkling frost in the winter, creating a picturesque, almost magical landscape. When I visited, a thick fog spread over the city in the early morning, adding a mysterious feel to the streets.

One morning, after a heavy snowfall, I decided to explore. Tremendous icicles hung from the buildings, and as I walked, I found a place to go skating on a large outdoor rink. Children were tobogganing and sledging nearby, and it reminded me of how lively Almaty’s parks and public spaces become, even in the frosty weather. The cold was biting, and flakes of snow continued to float down, but the thrill of being out-of-doors, enjoying the winter activities, was unforgettable. Fortunately, I had dressed warmly, so I could stay out longer, enjoying every moment.

Almaty’s weather can be unpredictable, though, so I often checked the weather forecast, hoping for a sunny day to go hiking. One day, while hiking in the mountains, a thunderstorm came rolling in. A tremendous clap of thunder echoed across the valley, and soon, heavy rain began to pour down, forcing us to take shelter. But even this couldn’t take away from the experience—the adventure of being in nature, surrounded by Almaty’s natural wonders, is something I will always treasure.

I was born in Aktobe, a city that beautifully blends the essence of nature with the vibrancy of urban life. The weather here is quite diverse, with hot summers and cold winters, creating a unique rhythm throughout the year. In spring, the landscape bursts into life as flowers bloom and the air becomes fragrant with fresh scents. The gentle breeze carries whispers of the nearby steppes, inviting exploration and adventure.

As summer approaches, the sun shines brightly, casting warm rays over the city and its surroundings. The days are long and perfect for outdoor activities, whether it’s picnicking by the river or enjoying the lush greenery in parks. Autumn brings a stunning array of colors as leaves turn golden and red, creating a picturesque backdrop.

In winter, Aktobe transforms into a snowy wonderland. The cold air is crisp, and the city glistens under a blanket of snow. Despite the chill, there’s a certain magic in the air as families gather to enjoy winter sports and festivities.

Living in Aktobe has given me a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the changing seasons, making every moment spent here truly special.

Growing up in Aktobe, I experienced the full force of its continental climate. Winters are brutal, with temperatures often dropping below -20°C, while summers are dry and hot, sometimes reaching over 30°C. Spring and autumn feel fleeting but refreshing. I learned to adapt to the extremes, from icy winds to sun-baked days, each season bringing its own unique challenges.

The city of Aktau, located in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region, experiences a desert climate, marked by arid conditions and high temperatures. Summers are hot and long, typically lasting from June to September, with temperatures often exceeding +30°C. Winters are mild and short, with temperatures rarely dropping below 0°C, though occasional snowfall may occur.

Aktau receives low annual precipitation, mostly as light rain during winter and spring. Windy days are frequent, with predominant winds coming from the north and northwest. In summer, the nearby Caspian Sea provides opportunities for swimming and relaxation, and its evaporation slightly increases the region’s humidity

I was born in Aktau. Aktau has a dry and sharply continental climate, so the weather varies greatly by season:

Temperatures in the winter months are quite mild for Kazakhstan, ranging from -1°C to +5°C. But the snow, which usually melts quickly due to short frosts. Sometimes cold winds blow from the Caspian Sea.

Spring comes early and temperatures begin to rise rapidly. In March, they can be around +10°C, and by May they reach +20 °C and above. Spring is usually dry and sunny, although there are windy days.

Summers are hot and dry, with temperatures often reaching +30°C and above, sometimes reaching +40°C. There is almost no precipitation, and warm winds often blow. The Caspian Sea softens the climate slightly, creating a pleasant breeze.

Autumn comes slowly, and in September it is still warm, about +25°C. It gets cooler in October and November, temperatures drop to +10°C - +15°C, and the first cool rains are possible closer to November.

Aktobe is located in western Kazakhstan, in the northern part of the Aktobe Region. The city has a sharply continental climate, meaning large temperature differences between summer and winter. Summers are hot and long, lasting from mid-May to mid-September, with temperatures often exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. July is the warmest month of the year. Rain is rare in summer, making the climate dry. Winters are moderately cold, with an average January temperature of -12 degrees Celsius, though occasional thaws occur. Snow mainly falls in December and January, but it is usually light. The highest snow cover appears in February, though it remains modest. Sharp temperature fluctuations are common throughout the year.

The weather in Aktobe varies. Summers are often hot and sunny, with occasional rain and wind. Winters are very cold, with heavy snowfall. Despite such weather, Aktobe is considered one of the best continental areas in Kazakhstan.

My Village “Shilikti”

My village, Shilikti, is located 8 hours away from the city. I have been living there for 17 years. Many of my childhood memories and school years took place in this village. It is dear to me because I spent a lot of time here with my family, classmates, and friends. In my village, there is a beautiful park for relaxation. Recently, an ice rink was opened. There is also a café where I can go with my family. On holidays, we go to the club to watch concerts.

In addition to these places, Shilikti is surrounded by beautiful nature. The vast steppe, clear skies, and fresh air make it a peaceful and relaxing place to live. Many families have lived here for generations, and there is a strong sense of community. People in the village are friendly and always ready to help each other. We celebrate national holidays together, and there are often local festivals that bring everyone together.

Farming and agriculture play an important role in village life. Many families have small farms where they grow crops or raise livestock. My family, too, has a small garden where we grow vegetables in the summer. These activities help us stay connected to nature and remind us of the importance of hard work and patience.

Although life in the village is quieter compared to the city, it has its own unique charm. I love the simple lifestyle, the close relationships with my neighbors, and the traditions that have been passed down through generations. Shilikti will always be a special place to me, filled with memories and experiences that shaped who I am today

I was born in Aksai village. My village is 2 hours from Aktobe. The climate in Aksai is very favorable for residents, the air is not very dry and not very wet. During the autumn period, it rains and quickly gets cold, and snow falls in late October or early November. So winter begins. In winter, it happens on very cold days. Even the temperature shows up to -40 degrees. Snow falls very thick. As a child, my father used to make me a hut out of the same snow, and my friends and I used to go sledding down the mountains. During the spring, March and until mid-April we have snow on the ground. But at the slightest time, hot days immediately begin, and the snow quickly melts. However, this sometimes leads to a large amount of snow and flooding. At the end of spring, all the trees are crumbling and spreading leaves. So comes the summer. In summer, it happens in my village on very hot days. But in the summer we have a lot of rain. it affects the growth of a large number of green grasses. I like the climate in my village everything happens in its norm, but not counting the hot days.

Sagizbaeva Dana. I was also born in Zhetysai village of Turkestan city. But then we moved to Baikonur and then to Aktobe. The city of Turkestan, that is, Zhetysai, is my birthplace. That's why I like the weather there and the city side. I go there only in summer. I will be in Zhetysai for 1 month. Because he likes to visit only in summer. The weather is very hot. The weather will be around +35C. In autumn, the weather is warm, +15С°, in winter it is a little cold, i.e. the weather is +5...10С°. That is why agriculture is well developed in Zhetysai. Since Zhetysai is very close to Uzbekistan, the population is large, that is, the demographic situation has increased dramatically. And this leads to overpopulation. In fact, during those summer months, my uncles fish, play football and volleyball with the neighboring children. And the girls would ride bicycles and jump rope. And great uncles and grandfathers played chess. If the day is too hot, we go to the beach.

The climate in Aral, Kazakhstan, is arid and continental. Summers are typically hot and dry, with temperatures often reaching around 35°C (95°F) and occasionally climbing even higher. The hot summers in Aral are due to its arid, continental climate, typical of Kazakhstan’s steppe regions. The absence of large bodies of water nearby (following the shrinking of the Aral Sea) intensifies temperature contrasts, making summers especially hot and winters cold. The dry soil and sparse vegetation in the surrounding area also contribute to the rapid heating of the air in summer, causing temperatures to often reach 35–40°C (95–104°F).

Winters, on the other hand, are cold and harsh, with temperatures often dropping well below freezing, sometimes reaching -20°C (-4°F) or lower. Snowfall is not very heavy, but the cold winds make the winter feel even more severe. Rainfall in Aral is generally low throughout the year, with more precipitation occurring in spring and autumn. Due to its location and proximity to the former Aral Sea, the region experiences strong winds and occasional dust storms, especially during dry seasons.

Aktobe has a continental climate with very cold winters and hot summers. In winter, temperatures often go below zero, and snow covers the city. January is the coldest month. Roads can get icy, making it hard to walk or drive. In summer, it gets warm, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius or more, especially in July. Rain is not very common, so the weather is mostly dry. Spring and autumn are short seasons with quick changes. Spring brings a little rain, while autumn often has wind and cooler days. Each season has different weather, giving Aktobe a lot of variety.

Atyrau, located in western Kazakhstan near the Caspian Sea, has a harsh continental climate with extreme temperature shifts. Summers are very hot, often exceeding 40°C, while winters are bitterly cold, frequently dropping below -20°C. The region is quite dry, with annual precipitation rarely surpassing 200 mm, giving it almost desert-like conditions. Strong, dry winds are common, making the weather feel even more intense. The nearby Caspian Sea slightly influences the climate but does little to moderate these extremes. Daily temperature fluctuations are significant, with warm days and chilly nights, reflecting the typical characteristics of a continental climate zone.

In the mornings, Shalkar often wakes up to overcast skies and a chilly breeze. A light drizzle usually starts around noon, making the streets damp and the air feel fresh. By afternoon, the fog sometimes clears up, and there’s a chance for some bright sunshine. However, thunderstorms aren’t uncommon here, with sudden claps of thunder and the sky lighting up with lightning. Evening temperatures can drop quickly, with a frosty chill settling in, especially in winter. Overall, Shalkar’s weather tends to be unpredictable, yet worth talking about every day.

I’m from Mangystau region, city Zhanaozen. Zhanaozen, a city in southwestern Kazakhstan, experiences an arid continental climate with strong desert influences. Summers in Zhanaozen are intensely hot, with average temperatures often exceeding 35°C, and peak temperatures sometimes climbing even higher. The city’s inland location amplifies the summer heat, making it feel more extreme compared to coastal areas. Winters, in contrast, are cold, with temperatures frequently dipping below freezing. Average winter temperatures range from -1 to 3°C, bringing a noticeable chill, although snowfall is rare due to the city’s dry conditions.

The climate of Aktobe is continental, characterized by hot summers and cold winters. Summer temperatures often exceed 40°C in July, while winter temperatures can drop below 0°C, with occasional snowfall, though it's typically light. Precipitation is low, mostly occurring in spring and autumn. The region experiences significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. Strong winds are common, especially in spring and fall. Due to the arid conditions and extreme seasonal changes, the climate is considered harsh and dry, requiring adaptation to its severe conditions. Tulepova Assem 102AO
