Quote.

The most interesting, useful quote from the book so far is what Fallon’s mom has said to her when she was younger, that quote went through her mind, while she was thinking about what this “thing” with Ben is going to turn into. The recite is about falling in love at a young age - “You’ll never be able to find yourself if you’re lost in someone else.”

Another quote, that I find sweet and interesting is, what Ben said to Fallon, when they were talking about her scars – “So from now on when you think about your scars, you aren’t allowed to resent them. You’re going to embrace them, because you’re lucky to be on this earth to see them. And any guy you allow to touch your scars better thank you for the privilege.”

Predictions.

My predictions about the plots time ahead are simple – they are going to see each other every year, they are going to end up together at the end, and Ben is going to write a book, about their love story. But my predictions after learning that Ben and his older brother have some issues have changed, I think Ben is hiding something from Fallon, that could possibly change their relationship, and once she finds out what it is, they will have a fight, and possibly skip the meeting next year.

Grammar.

The book itself is written with simple sentences and words you would use in a daily conversation, so nothing really was hard to understand. As might be expected there were words such as – contemplating, and begrudgingly – that raised a question about “what could it possibly mean”, but then I did some research on the internet and found the synonyms of the words, which helped me understand the meaning behind them.

Contemplating – look thoughtfully for a long time.

Begrudgingly - said, done, or given reluctantly.

Theme.

In my opinion, the theme of the book is, to not be scared and to not hide away your emotions and yourself away from everyone. To try new things, and be spontaneous. To do everything in your power to achieve something you are determent. And throughout the first few chapters, that is precisely what is happening.

The characters in the first few chapters, don’t do anything unexpected. Perhaps, the fact, that Ben, joined the conversation as a stranger's boyfriend, to help her out, is a little unexpected, but maybe, that is just what he is like, and it's nothing unnatural about him. Along with that, he suggested Fallon, meet on the same day every year, to fill in each other on their lives. And later in the book, they actually meet each other the year after they met.

Characters.

Ben - a writer, who is very determined to get Fallon’s attention and to have a relationship with her. He is extremely good with words, he knows how to get inside someone’s head. He always knows what to tell people to make them feel better. He has something he is hiding, but the reader still hasn’t found out what it is.

Keywords – quick-witted, enthusiastic, creative, brave, charming, sweet, caring, sympathetic, free, genuine.

Quote from the book, where Fallon talks about Ben - "And while he seems a little too good to be true, and he's probably full of flaws and annoying little habits, I'm still just greedy enough to want to spend the rest of the day with him."

Characters.

Fallon – is a young woman, that wants to become an actress, but her father doesn’t believe that it's possible, because of her looks, because of the scar that she got in a fire accident. She wants to have a fresh start somewhere else, so she is concentrating on only one thing which is getting a fresh start despite the events that are happening on her last day in her home city.

Keywords – single-minded, shy, actress, insecure, hidden, sarcastic, charming, emotional, clever, offended.

What Ben said about Fallon in the book, proves, that she is insecure - "You wear your hair like you do because you don't want people to see too much of you. You wear long sleeves and collared shirts because you think it helps. But it doesn't"

The plot in keywords.

Scars – this word was mentioned by Fallon’s dad and Ben and Fallon herself lots of times because she is very insecure about the way the scar affects her looks.

Writer – Ben is a writer, and that’s the main word Fallon used to describe Ben.

Fake – Since they “started dating” because Fallon was involved in a conversation with her dad, the whole relationship was not real at the beginning of the book.

Actor – something Fallon wants to become. The reason she got into a fight with her dad, the reason she is moving, and the reason she ended up in the situation with Ben.

Date – the whole day, they spent together, could be considered a date, because, throughout the day, they were trying to find out where this potential relationship could lead to.

PLOT

In the first half of the book, we get introduced to the two main characters. Fallon and Ben, both met on Fallon's last day in Los Angeles, before she moves to New York to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. They met at a cafe where Fallon was having her last lunch with her father who had not been present in her life for the previous two years after they got into a fire accident that left her with a scar. Fallon and her dad were having a really unpleasant conversation. Ben overheard it and interrupted the conversation by introducing himself as her boyfriend, to help Fallon get out of the awkward situation. After lunch, they decided to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. to get to know each other more. But at the end of the day, she still had to move to New York, but they agreed on meeting each other every year on the same day which happened to be – November 9th.
