We can celebrate International Apple Day, on October 21st. At school, launch a campaign showing the benefits of eating apples and, on that day, everyone brings apples, or something made with apples, for their morning snack. Show the community which native apple varieties exist and inquire to find out who knows or consumes them (sustainability). At home, with their families, the students can make a menu that uses apples.

*Organizing an excursion to an apple orchard, observing the fruit trees, fruit picking, discussions with the farmer about the orchard maintenance process, how to use the fruit, how to process them and transform them into derived products.

*Making a collective model of an apple orchard.

1. In September, we can organize an excursion to the apple orchard and ask a gardener to tell our children what farmers usually do to take care of the apple orchard. Older students can research information about 'apple trees diseases' and the ways to 'cure' them.

2. During autumn holidays, we can bake an apple pie with our students in school canteen. Children will share different recipes of their favorite apple pies.

3. Our children can create small paper books to present all stages of apple tree growth (in a form of an accordion): from a seed to an apple.
