Our idiom (bears eat best pears)reflects a somewhat cynical view of life, where it suggests that the most valuable or desirable opportunities are frequently seized by those who might not be the most deserving of them. It’s often used to express frustration when those who seem the least qualified or most unfit somehow end up benefiting the most, leaving others who might be more deserving without anything. It speaks to the randomness or unfairness of who gets to enjoy the "best" things,be it in terms of success, rewards,or even personal achievements.Much like how a bear might take the ripest fruit,it’s an image of how sometimes, the "best" is claimed by the least expected or most unlikely contenders.

The idiom I liked the most was “hit the nail on the head.” I chose it because it means saying exactly the right thing, and the picture it creates is very clear and easy to understand.

Idioms are important in language learning because they help us speak more like native speakers. They also show us how people think and express ideas in that language.

AI tools were very helpful. They showed images of the idioms, so I could first see the literal meaning and then understand what it really means. This made learning idioms more fun and easier to remember.

The best part of this activity was using technology in a creative way. I liked how AI helped make learning more interesting and enjoyable.

The idiom I liked most was "It's raining cats and dogs". The AI image clearly showed animals falling from the sky, which made the meaning — very heavy rain — easy to understand and remember.

Idioms are useful in language learning because they make speech more natural. AI helped by turning the literal meaning into a funny image, which made it easier to learn.

The most interesting part of the activity was seeing how creative visuals can help with understanding language.

I chose the idiom "break the ice", which means to start a conversation and make people feel more relaxed when they first meet.

I found this idiom very effective because it uses a strong visual image -breaking ice- to describe something social and emotional, which makes it easier to understand and remember.

Idioms are a very important part of learning a foreign language because they allow learners to better understand the culture, humour, and everyday speech of native speakers.

Without idioms, language often sounds too formal or unnatural.

Thanks to AI tools, I was able to visualize the literal meaning of this idiom through a picture of two people laughing and talking in a coffee shop.

The most interesting part of this activity for me was seeing how technology can turn abstract language into something concrete and fun!

The most interesting part of this activity was seeing how technology and language learning can work together. I enjoyed how AI made learning idioms much more creative and memorable.

Using AI tools helped a lot in visualizing idioms. For example, AI-created images or animations showed in the literal meaning first (like someone actually breaking the ice) and then explained the real meaning. This made it easier to remember and understand the idiom in a fun and visual way.

Idioms are important when learning a foreign language because they help students understand the culture behind the language. They often carry meanings that cannot be understood by translating word by word, so they teach learners to think in a more natural and fluent way.

One idiom that I found the most effective was "break the ice". I think it was well represented because it shows clearly how expressions can have a meaning that is different from their literal words. It means to make people feel more comfortable in a new or awkward situation, not actually breaking ice.

Issues to discuss:

Choose one idiom you think was represented the best. Explain why you found it the most effective.

Why are idioms important when learning a foreign language?

How did using AI tools help in visualizing the literal meaning of idioms?

What was the most interesting part of this activity for you?
