Why should we give compassion towards other people?
It helps gain trust between the service user and worker. It can also make someones care easier and a nicer experience.
How to give compassion?
Speaking with kindness. Having empathy. Not judging someone regardless of the situation.
Adults:
Not judging them or their culture or life choices.
Speaking with kindness at all times.
Children/YP:
Speaking to children with kindness so they don't feel like they're being talked down to. Listening carefully without judgement so they feel listened to and respected.

It can make people feel safe and also build trust between the service user and worker.
It can also help children with voice and control because they have their own independence and privacy when needed.
How do we give people privacy?
We can give people privacy by respecting their dignity at all times.
Adults:
Adults can be given privacy by their dignity being respected at all times and confidentiality being followed correctly.
Children/YP:
Children can have their privacy respected by being given personal space when needed.
