The owner of Starbuks bought the business and changed the policy of the restaurant in order to be successful. The first priority is satisfying their clients. Every customer have to get not just a coffee but also a positive attitude. The visit to the coffee shop should be associated with a holiday. The staff are trained how to treat customers. For every unpleasant situation they have scripted ways to response and behave in order to solve any conflict and make a situation have positive solution.

Starbucks is incredibly successful in the U.S. because people in the U.S. have a credit based culture and not a savings based culture. In Asia and especially in South East Asia the cultures typically pivot towards saving rather than spending money and taking credit from creditors. Hence, expensive drinks from Starbucks averaging close to 5 to 7 $ per cup are ravenously consumed in western cultures especially the U.S. The same pricing in say Vietnam or China or India or Nepal would essentially be laughed at even by the most financially well to do families and/or institutions.

In your opinion, why is Starbucks so successful?
