In my country, it is different from America because there is no bar, but there are cafes to serve coffee and juices, and people come daily to spend time with their friends.

In my country it is very similar to the American version, with the difference being that it is normally a more opened space, where people can easily come and go, and sometimes prefer to just hang out in front of the place, by the side walk
