1. Why are Americans obsessed with making things as big as possible?

- They like to compete and beat. They have the ambition to be the best for things. The bigger it becomes show they are the best at what they are doing.

2. Why are Americans particularly obsessed with large amounts of food (or even actually large food items!)?

- They love food. They have different variety of food. They enjoy cooking.

Because it is one of the richest and developed countries, they have more variety of food that they can eat and more nutritious food they can easily buy. Making a large amount of food makes them feel like they are being the best.

3. What do these kinds of competitions tell you about American culture/values?

- They like to prove that they can do things even if it was big. They like to be famous and popular.

Work with your group to brainstorm some ideas/answers to these questions (don’t Google!)
