The Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) in Bengaluru has launched a seed portal through which people living anywhere in the country can get quality seeds at their doorstep after paying online.

     PB1121 and PB1509 are genitcally modified type of crops which gives the average yield of 24 quintal and 26 quintal per acre.

     These two basmati rice varieties developed by IARI have contributed the 70% of the exports of long grain aromatic rice from India worth of 2.38 lakhs.

     India exported on an average 3.74 million tonne.

Major export destinations of India's Basmati rice include Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Yemen and UAE which is almost 29,849 crores in 2020-21.
